Barbara GALLAGHER, composer -pianist  (ASCAP)

Barbara Gallagher studied composition at the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, where she was twice awarded the Vittorio Giannini Scholarship. In 1981 she began studies with Vincent Persichetti at The Juilliard School in New York City, receiving her master’s Degree in 1983. At Juilliard, she held the Irving Berlin Fellowship in memory of Jerome Kern, and was awarded the Peter David Faith Memorial Prize.

Ms. Gallagher’s commissions have included scores for film and children’s audio books, incidental theater music, vocal works and music for dance. She has published educational piano materials with Hal Leonard and choral repertoire with GIA

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Barbara Gallagher resides in Wilmington, NC with her husband, composer Ernesto Ferreri, and their two children. She is Music Director for Fifth Avenue Methodist Church in Wilmington, and coordinator/producer for the North Carolina Composers’ Alliance "ComposerWorks" concert series.
